Music & Art
The Music & Art series was launched in 1999 when the National Gallery in London approached Metronome to produce a recording for an exhibition of the "Art of Orazio Gentileschi at the Court of Charles I", which was being presented at the National Gallery in London and then on tour to Madrid, the Prado and Bilbao. The recording was made of the music of Nicholas Lanier, William Lawes and other composers of the Court of Charles I and a concert was given at the National Gallery to launch the project.
The recording proved a success and the interpretation offered led to further projects being commissioned for recordings for large exhibitions which took place at the National Gallery.
The series include
Music & Art at the Court of Charles I
Music & Art in Renaissance Florence, now published as Music for Mona Lisa
Seeing Salvation 1000 Years of Sacred Music
