Thalia Myers piano
SPECTRUM 3
25 contemporary works for solo piano performed by Thalia Myers
Metronome announces the release of Spectrum 3, a collection of 25 pieces for solo piano, commissioned in 2000 from composers from twenty-five different countries by Thalia Myers for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (Publishing) Ltd [ABRSM] and all receiving their recording premiere here. Each composer was asked to write a three minute work and the musical mosaic which results from the collection gives a truly global window on the legacy of the piano in the 21st century. From Iceland to Singapore, the Lebanon to Sri Lanka via Russia the composers have distilled their musical personality into these miniatures.

“La mondialisation de l’enseignement musical et la
multiplicité des destine individuels font de ce
programme autre chose qu’une mosaïque de traditions
disparates…….L’interprétation de Thalia Myers est
très éloquente et s’attache à mettre en valeur lélément
le plus saillant de chaque miniature.” Monde de la
Musique
“This anthology should be as successful as its
predecessors. Thalia Myers’ sensitive playing can only
encourage ‘good amateur and student pianists’ to take
these pieces up – and why not hardened professionals
too.”
