This CD was the last recording to be made in the presence of Alun Hoddinott.
It is a rearview of the carrer of this illustrious composer, from The Clarinet Concerto, which was first performed in the studio by BBC Wales in 1949 when the composer was still as student at Cardiff University to his final compositional piece written for the 2008 Swansea Festival with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales "Taliesin". An eloquent farewell which he knew would be his swansong.
Hoddinott was a versatile composer and he contributed to a vast range of work with more than 300 individual works to his name.
